Former Bosasa chief operating officer and whistleblower Angelo Agrizzi has asked to appear before the Madlanga Commission, saying he is ready to present fresh sworn evidence alleging political interference in the investigation and prosecution of the Bosasa corruption scandal.

The document was leaked to IOL by sources who said Agrizzi has asked to testify under witness protection

Sources confirmed to IOL that Agrizzi has formally requested permission to testify under witness protection. His submission focuses on the conduct of the Hawks, the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) and the Investigating Directorate Against Corruption (IDAC).

“I am Angelo Agrizzi, the whistleblower whose voluntary evidence to the Zondo Commission exposed the corruption within Bosasa and the bribery of public officials,” Agrizzi said in his sworn submission.

“I respectfully submit the attached statement, under oath, for the consideration of the Commission.”

According to the submission, Agrizzi alleged there was political interference and manipulation of investigations linked to Bosasa and the Department of Correctional Services.

He said this raised concerns about the integrity of the Hawks and the NPA.

Agrizzi claimed investigators abandoned efforts to trace financial flows involving Vulisango and entities linked to the Watson family, while intermediaries identified in state reports, including the Mansells and Hoeksma, were neither interviewed nor prosecuted.

He further alleged that perjury allegations involving the late Gavin Watson were never pursued.

Agrizzi also contended that evidence against him wrongly portrayed him as a beneficiary rather than a conduit, despite concerns allegedly raised by senior NPA counsel.

He further claimed that, despite voluntarily assisting investigators, he became the target of the prosecution and was denied access to documents needed to prepare his defence.

Agrizzi first came to national prominence through his testimony before the Zondo Commission, where he detailed alleged corruption and bribery within Bosasa.
