Four armed men who held up a delivery truck in Verulam in KwaZulu-Natal made off with R300 in cash and two loaves of white bread.
Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) said they responded to the incident on Madrona Drive in Trenance Park.
Spokesperson Prem Balram said: “Several officers were sent in an attempt to track and arrest four armed men who held up a delivery truck.”
The suspects allegedly made off with just R300 in cash and two loaves of white bread.
During the robbery, they reportedly told those at the scene that they were hungry.
Amid the chaos, a witness claimed that a gunshot rang out during the incident.
However, this detail remains unverified, as the victims themselves could not confirm whether a shot had indeed been fired.
By late morning, authorities were still actively combing the area, focusing their search on a green belt believed to connect the crime scene to Zwelisha and Phoenix.
The suspects, described as four armed men, remain at large as the search continues.
