Bonang Matheba attended the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity 2026

The renowned media personality took the stage at DEPT® Secret Garden for The Algorithm Doesn’t Know Your Culture, a conversation exploring AI, culture, trust, and ownership in the digital age.

The DEPT® Secret Garden is one of the standout, invite-only event spaces at the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity.

Matheba posted on social media snippets from her panel session, giving her fans a glimpse into the action.

“I’m a media personality, Africa’s most awarded on-air personality. That intertwines with culture. I gravitate towards brands that want to highlight my culture, my country, my language, its people, and I realise that the power is with me,” she said during the clip.

Known for her stellar fashion looks, Matheba made sure to look her best for her speaking engagements. For day one, she wore an ensemble from South African fashion house, Mmuso Maxwell, and on her second day, she wore an ensemble from Nigerian fashion brand Hertunba by Florentina.

Matheba also happened to celebrate her 39th birthday in France, and her followers made sure to send her well-wishes. Many of her followers also wanted to know if she will be hosting one of her famous birthday parties to celebrate when she returns from her travels.

Matheba is one of South Africa and Africa’s most recognised faces, but lately she has been living a more private life, only sharing her work moments online with her followers. Her vlogs have become very popular with her fans, and many are ready to see her latest one, revealing her time in France.
