Police have made a breakthrough in the murder investigation of Kempton Park runner Elizabeth “Tsontso” Moselakgomo.

Moselakgomo’s body was discovered on September 12, 2026.

The 38-year-old mother disappeared on September 10, after leaving her home in Kempton Park for her routine afternoon run.

Her eight-year-old daughter raised the alarm after her mother failed to return home at her usual time, prompting relatives to realise that something was wrong.

Moselakgomo was one of 12 women whose bodies were discovered in the Ekurhulelni area in that period.

National police spokesperson Brigadier Atlenda Mathe said the suspect was found in possession of an item belonging to the victim.

“The suspect is expected to appear in the Kempton Park Magistrate’s Court.

She said the suspect is likely to face a charge of being in possession of stolen property.

“At this stage, no murder charge has been brought against the suspect.”
