Rocking at 50

Join Alistair Izobell for a music-fuelled celebration as he marks turning 50 with a high-energy return to the stage.

Back at the Baxter after years away, he leads a tight live band featuring Charlton Daniels (musical director: bass and vocals), Brynne Bailey (keys, guitar, vocals, percussion) and Devanish Hendricks (piano and vocals) in an hour-and-a-half of original music, storytelling and comedy.

Four men, aged 50, 40, 38 and 29, share the stage to unpack ageing, fading youth, hard-earned lessons and the comedy of staring back at yourself in the mirror. Izobell becomes that reflection, louder and wiser but still refusing to slow down.

Where: Baxter Studio.

When: Runs until Saturday, July 18, at 8pm.

‘A Food Love Story’: A sustainable seafood dinner experience

Chef and food storyteller Onezwa Mbola invites guests to an intimate dining experience featuring a curated seafood-led menu inspired by her cookbook “A Food Love Story”.

Guests will be served seasonal South African dishes built around sustainable fish, coastal flavours and fresh produce.

Expect plates that move from delicate starters to richly layered mains, each tied to stories of heritage and home cooking. The menu highlights the ocean’s abundance, simple techniques and bold, honest flavour combinations designed for sharing and connection around the table.

Where: Makers Landing at the V&A Waterfront.

When: Saturday, July 4, and Sunday, July 5, at 6pm.

The Soul Affair 2.0

It’s time to get your soul on again as The Soul Affair 2.0 returns with a night built on smooth rhythms, R&B grooves and classic soul energy.

Don Vino leads the live performance, bringing rich vocals and feel-good stage presence that sets the tone from the first note. An all-star DJ line-up keeps things moving with deep cuts, nostalgic throwbacks and Afro-inspired sounds that carry the crowd through the night.

Known for his powerful live presence and heartfelt delivery, he previously left audiences captivated during past Soul Affair editions, where his sets leaned into deep emotion and effortless connection with the crowd.

This is a space for music lovers who appreciate real sound and timeless vibes.

Where: Destino, Grandwest.

When: Saturday, July 4, at 8pm.
