South Africa is gearing up for a crucial showdown against South Korea on Thursday, with singer and “Queen of Dance” Chomee emerging as a central voice in the national match-day build-up.
Chomee, born Thulisile Madihlaba, is the artist behind the breakout soccer anthem Tjovitjo (Bafana Is Back), a track that has quickly become a rallying sound at watch parties and across social media during the current football season.
Her lyrics, once a celebratory nod to South African football culture, now sit against the backdrop of high stakes for the national side as fans rally behind the team.
Chomee has partnered with Debonairs Pizza for a soccer-season campaign built around themes of unity, shared moments, and match-day energy.
Chomee’s vocals also feature in the brand’s new television commercial, further tying her music to the campaign’s match-day theme.
She previously headlined a fan park activation at Mall of Africa and is scheduled to perform at a Melrose Arch watch party during the quarter-final stage on 9 July, with additional appearances expected.
Speaking on the collaboration, Chomee said football has a unique ability to bring people together regardless of background or team loyalty, adding that the current moment makes that shared experience especially meaningful.
At the centre of the campaign is the new Cram Crown Crust™ Pizza, a locally launched innovation inspired by the huddle formation football teams use before kick-off.
Debonairs Pizza marketing executive Jacques Cronje said the collaboration was aimed at capturing the energy of South African football culture and celebrating togetherness through both music and food.
