City installs plastic meters to avoid theft

In efforts to curb water meter theft, the City of Cape Town says it is only installing plastic ones, as brass meters are being stolen and sold for scrap. With Ottery, Kensington and Lentegeur among the top 10 areas for high theft in water meters the City says its working quickly to replace stolen meters in the shortest possible time.

Mitchells Plain residents urged to update their electricity meters 

the City of Cape Town is urging residents in Mitchells Plain to update their electricity meters from now until the end of August. All prepaid metering software in South Africa must be updated or customers won’t be able to recharge their meters with new tokens; and will be left without power supply The City says teams are o standby to assist residents with updating their prepaid electricity meters either through prompts on the City’s website or by calling 0860 103 089

Telkom to auction off some of its properties worth R500m

Telkom will soon be auctioning off 50 properties across the country which are estimated to be worth more than R500 million .
The properties form part of a national portfolio of Telkom & Gyro Properties.
The properties are located across the country in all nine provinces, with the largest portion in Gauteng.

President Ramaphosa increases salary of all office bearers by 3% 

President Cyril Ramaphosa has increased the salary of all office bearers by 3%. This determination follows recommendations made by the Independent Commission for the Remuneration of Public Office Bearers on the annual salary for all public office bearers, submitted to the President in April. The Commission recommended 3.8% salary increment for all public office bearers including members of the Independent Constitutional Institutions, Judges, Magistrates and Traditional Leaders for the financial year 2022/2023.
