David Beckham’s Fortnite collaboration: What to expect from the Icon Series

David Beckham is the latest sporting legend to make his way into Fortnite, officially joining the game’s star-studded Icon Series.

The collaboration between Beckham and Fortnite was launched on Saturday, July 18, and features outfits that players can choose and various gears to play with.

This includes two outfits – a classic football kit and a suit inspired by his role as the president and co-owner of Inter Miami FC, two back blings, two pickaxes (one of which includes a Meteor Baller pickaxe that gets you the perfect strike) and one emote called the “Beckham’s Shot”.

The Beckham’s Shot imitates his famous free-kick technique that is known as the “Bend it like Beckham”.

Players can also choose a shirtless option that showcases Beckham’s tattoos in gold on his arms, torso, neck and hands.

The gold tattoos are reactive and glow with every elimination.

Beckham reflected on the collaboration: “Fortnite creates new and exciting ways to connect with fans around the world. It’s been great working with them to create something that celebrates my career on and off the pitch,” he said.

Ahead of the launch, the 51-year-old gave a sneak peek of his Fortnite character and outfits via an Instagram post, which featured a photograph of him assisting with his character’s design.

Furthermore, the former footballer is now among the list of football stars who have been featured on the game including Lionel Messi, Marco Reus and Harry Kane.

The Beckhams have been making headlines for quite a while now, particularly for the family feud that has been going on between them and their now-estranged son, Brooklyn.

The tide seems to be turning as public focus finally shifts away from the ongoing family drama that has long dimmed the Beckham’s biggest achievements.

In June, the football legend celebrated a historic milestone by becoming the first footballer to receive a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Still, rumours threatened to steal the spotlight after reports surfaced that Harper tried to reconnect with her estranged brother, Brooklyn, only to be turned away when no one answered the door at his LA home.
