After six years of giving swindlers and corrupt individuals chest pains, Devi Sankaree Govender has announced the end of ‘The Devi Show’, adding that she will not quite be disappearing from screens.
Sankaree Govender, the pint-sized powerhouse, award-winning investigative journalist also known for her anchor spot on M-Net’s Carte Blanche, shared the news on social media.
“Join me for my final episode of #Devi #Sunday as I transition from linear TV into the digital space,” she said.
She hinted that the last show will “end in grand style.”
“And we end, in grand style, with one of our most prolific ‘characters’. Leopards seldom change their spots – and so it was with #GeorgeWebb, who made his 1st appearance as ‘the tenant from hell’ way back in 2020. We confront him for the 5th time,” Sankaree Govender said.
In a post on social media, she explained her reason for the move.
“After 30 years on television (imagine!) I’m getting ready for a whole new escapade. I’ve had the privilege of telling extraordinary stories, interacting with super-cool South Africans and confronting a few rather interesting characters (you know The Ones).
“For the past six years on eTV, The Devi Show has been such a special part of that journey. On Sunday, 11 October, we’ll be wrapping up our television chapter.
“But … relax – I’m not disappearing off your screens. The world is changing, and so is the way we connect. I want to meet you where you are and explore new possibilities,” Sankaree Govender shared.
She further thanked her fans for watching the show and trusting her with their stories.
There was also a stark warning for the shady business community.
“To my dear crooks – don’t celebrate too early – I’m moving to a bigger space, and I have very interesting plans for ‘us’,” she said.
Sankaree Govender said The Devi Show’s episodes will remain on YouTube for viewers.
