
Mandela Day Walk & Run
With Mandela Day being commemorated across the country this weekend, there are plenty of events to take part in the City of Gold.
One of them is this event, which seeks to celebrate unity, purpose, wellness and the enduring legacy of Nelson Mandela.
The Mandela Day Walk and Run is inspired by Madiba’s famous route through the streets of Houghton. It includes a 21km half-marathon, a 10km race or an easy 5km family walk, making the day accessible for everyone.
There will also be live entertainment and activities.
Where: DP World Wanderers Stadium, Corlett Dr, Illovo, Sandton.
When: Sunday, 19 July. Start times are 7.30am for 21km and 10km and 7.45am for 5km.
Secret Sunrise JHB: Mandela Day
This special edition of Secret Sunrise Joburg, under the theme of “Madiba Magic”, invites people from all over the city to enjoy a session which celebrates music, movement and good vibes.
The gathering will feature a silent disco. There will also be light breathwork, rooftop views, coffee, food and Saturday-morning vibes.
The dress code is comfortable, casual and weather-friendly with bonus points for caps, sunglasses, or the finest “Madiba” look.
Where: Mall of the South in Liefde En Vrede.
When: Saturday, July 18, from 8.30am.
The Supercar Rhino Run
This event returns to Kyalami, and it brings together Mzansi’s supercar community in support of rhino conservation.
It will feature around 150 of some of the country’s most exceptional performance vehicles. There will also be an attempt to break the Guinness World Record® for the Largest display of Supercars/Hypercars.
There will also be a supercar parade, Gymkhana (a motorsport display of skills and athleticism) demonstration, spinning demonstrations, tyre-shredding burnout displays, an anti-poaching simulation and K9 demonstration, entertainment, food and drinks.
Where: Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit in Midrand.
