A recent article in Huisgenuot titled “Claudia Henkel: Former Miss SA’s ex-husband dragged to court – and then the sheriff wanted to come and knock on her door too” has prompted her to release a public statement.
The article detailed how Claudia Henkel, who wore the Miss South Africa crown in 2004, has been dragged into her ex-husband Orin Roesstoff’s money dramas.
Posting a picture of the cover, Henkel, in her caption, expressed her gratitude for the support the media has shown her since her year as Miss South Africa, but she is now a mother doing her best to raise two young children on her own.
“Despite recent comments, I am legally divorced from my ex-husband, so please could I ask you not to include me, or anyone I have been associated with since my divorce, in stories you write about my ex! It is not fair to them.
“My chief concern is for my children, as regardless of all that has happened between me and my ex, he remains the father of my children. Out of respect for them and to protect their right to privacy, I would prefer not to be drawn into issues my ex-husband faces. As parents with children of your own, I am certain you will understand my position.”
Henkel then released a public statement addressing the allegations reported in the publication, despite her not wanting to speak about her ex-husband and the lawsuit brought against him.
She explained that she probably needs to thank Linea Investments, as without them, she would not have known that there was a clerical error between her divorce papers and filing them with Home Affairs.
Henkel went on to add that she has been assured that the error does not invalidate her divorce or the decision the court reached when it granted them legal separation.
“After my divorce, four years later, I became involved with my now ex-fiance, who gifted me with a matt grey Porsche. It is grossly unfair to name him in a story that has nothing to do with him, and I ask that the media please stop doing so.
“For clarity, before we became engaged, my ex-fiancé bought the car for my use, but always in the understanding that if things did not work out between us, ownership of the car would revert back to him. That agreement was honoured when our relationship ended. I would prefer not comment further on this issue.
“What happened between Orin and I during our marriage is also a thing of the past, and I am moving forward with my life. I was once a beauty queen, which was newsworthy for a while, but that was a long time ago. Today I am just a single mom to young children that I adore and want to protect.”
