Gauteng police are appealing to the public for assistance in tracking down a man who may hold vital information regarding the shocking murder of a woman found with a gunshot wound in Sunninghill, Johannesburg.

National police spokesperson, Brigadier Athlenda Mathe, said members of the public who may have information pertaining to this case are encouraged to contact this number 071 608 5490.

Meanwhile, Minister of Justice and Constitutional Development, Mmamoloko Kubayi, has expressed deep sadness over the tragic murder of community activist Pamela Mabini, who played a vital role in supporting victims in the Timothy Omotoso alleged rape and trafficking case.

IOL reported that in a shocking turn of events, the community activist and whistleblower was shot dead in her car, in the driveway of her home in KwaZakhele, Gqeberha on Friday.

She was found dead in her white Chevrolet SS Lumina bakkie.

Kubayi’s spokesperson, Terrence Manase, said the minister “strongly” condemns this heinous act and the killing of anyone, particularly those who assist the courts and support victims of crime.

“The Department of Justice and Constitutional Development remains committed to ensuring the safety of court users, court officials, presiding officers, community activists, witnesses, and whistle-blowers,” said Manase.

He said efforts are underway to strengthen legal protections, including reviewing legislation to close loopholes that hinder these safeguards.

“The minister emphasizes that serving as a friend of the court is not only an act of bravery but also essential for fostering a safer society,” said Manase.

Minister Kubayi has extended her “heartfelt” condolences to the Mabini family, relatives, and friends.

“While respecting the independence of the judiciary and law enforcement agencies, Minister Kubayi urges a swift and thorough investigation into this tragic loss. She also calls on all relevant authorities to intensify efforts to combat gender-based violence and ensure safer communities,” said Manase.

“Furthermore, the minister encourages whistle-blowers not to be deterred by this act and urges anyone with information that could assist in solving this case to come forward.”
