A new chapter is about to unfold on Durban’s skyline as the iconic Hilton Durban prepares to reopen its doors under fresh management and a bold new identity.

IOL previously reported that, as of February 5, 2026, African American Properties Hotel Pty, the owning company of Hilton Durban, unilaterally terminated its management agreement with Hilton.

At the time, a spokesperson explained that the hotel was no longer part of the Hilton portfolio.

IOL understands that the hotel will re-open on March 16 as part of the Royal Majestic Hotel portfolio, with the name Royal Majestic Durban.

A spokesperson confirmed to IOL that Hilton previously managed the building, while Royal Majestic has always been the owner.

“As of February 5, Royal Majestic has officially taken over the full management and operations,” the spokesperson added.
