IOL named daily news Publisher of the Year at engineering excellence awards

IOL scooped the Publisher of the Year – Daily News prize at the CESA AON Engineering Excellence prize in Johannesburg on Thursday night.

The event sought to recognise the excellence within the engineering industry as they continue to build a better future for South Africans.

With various categories including Best Young Engineer and Best Engineering Mentor at the dazzling ceremony, which took place at Vodacom World in Midrand, Independent Media was proud to be one of the night’s winners.

As the night’s host, renowned local media personality Kriya Gangiah, announced the winner of this coveted category, she explained that the media plays a vital role in the engineering industry and brings the incredible stories of the various role players to life.

Karishma Dipa, the deputy content manager of the Leisure Hub, who accepted the award on behalf of Independent Media, explained on stage that this prize is a reflection of “the passion and dedication of the IOL team who work tirelessly to tell these stories with accuracy, integrity, and heart”.

This recognition means so much to us because at IOL, we believe in the power of storytelling. And in the engineering sector, the stories are remarkable – stories of vision, resilience and innovation that are literally shaping the future of South Africa. It has been our privilege to share them with the nation.”

Meanwhile, the glitzy affair, also shone a spotlight on the incredible work of the local engineering industry.

From vital water projects, to medical facilities, schools and roads, the industry was applauded for their ingenuity, creativity and ability to deliver excellent results, often under intense pressure.
