South Africa’s rising boxing star Kaine Fourie (11-1-2, 9 KOs) says he’s ready to prove he belongs on the international stage when he faces Argentina’s Claudio Daneff (23-4-1, 10 KOs) for the IBO Inter-Continental Title on Saturday.

Speaking ahead of the biggest fight of his career at Sandton Mayhem hosted by the Kevin Lerena-led Aquila Boxing Promotions, Fourie said he’s in peak physical condition after months of continuous training, and that his focus is on showing he’s more than a “local-level” fighter.

The 24-year-old reflected on his humble beginnings — from fighting in small halls with a handful of spectators to now headlining a televised card on SuperSport — and credited his father, a former boxer, for inspiring his journey.

Mentally, he said the toughest part of the sport is staying disciplined and motivated through repetitive training, but his goals — including retiring his parents and earning a world title shot — keep him grounded. With promoter Lerena’s backing, Fourie sees this fight as the final step before a potential IBO World Title opportunity, promising fans he’ll showcase his talent come fight night.

Fourie’s Journey: From Local Fights to International Boxing Stage

“It’s a very big fight, probably one of my biggest fights so far. I just need to show the people what I’ve got still, and show them I’m not local. Every show, yeah, I need to show them I’m international level and not local level,” said Fourie.

Though he’s already well into his career as a professional boxer, it’s been a difficult journey, Fourie revealed.

“I had to start where everyone starts, you know, in the gutters, in a hall, fighting with like 20 people watching. All that also plays mental games, you know, so, but I just stood my ground, I worked harder and I just focused. You know, and I envisioned where I want to be now and now I am. Three years later.”
