A Level 2 weather warning has been issued for KwaZulu-Natal, with the weather forecaster predicting widespread showers and severe thunderstorms across the province on Saturday.
eThekwini Municipality has confirmed that its Disaster Management team and emergency teams have been placed on high alert.
The South African Weather Service (SAWS) said the eThekwini region is expected to be significantly affected.

According to a statement from the eThekwini Municipality, heavy downpours, strong winds, intense lightning, and light hail are anticipated until Sunday.
This weather pattern is likely to lead to flooding of roads, bridges and low-lying areas, hazardous driving conditions and damage to infrastructure.
“Residents in flood-prone areas, including informal settlements, are urged to take the necessary precautions to ensure safety. Motorists are advised to exercise caution, reduce speed, and maintain safe following distances on wet and slippery roads,” the City warned.
