Another Lekompo star has been involved in a tragic car accident.
On Monday, June 29, Lekompo producer Mvzzle (real name Gift Selaelo Morukhuladi) confirmed that he was involved in a tragic car accident along with his team, which claimed the life of a pedestrian.
The DJ revealed in a statement that the fatal car crash happened on Friday night as they were travelling to Lephalale for a gig.
“It is with deep sadness and a heavy heart that we address the tragic incident that occurred on Friday night.
“While traveling to Lephalale for our scheduled gig, we were passing through Shongoane 2 when a pedestrian crossed the road. Unfortunately, we were involved in an accident and struck her,” the producer said.
According to Mvzzle, his team came to an immediate halt following the collision to alert emergency services.
However, upon their arrival, paramedics and police declared the pedestrian was deceased at the scene.
He added that they have since contacted the victim’s family to arrange a meeting, as they intend to take full responsibility for the funeral arrangements.
“On Saturday, our team reached out to the family to request a meeting. The family kindly agreed, and on Sunday we sat with them.
“As we all know, an accident is something no one can plan or foresee. During our meeting, we expressed our heartfelt condolences and took full responsibility for ensuring that their loved one is laid to rest with the dignity and respect she deserves,” he said.
To guarantee that all funeral arrangements are managed with care, the producer said that team members would be present with the family throughout the week leading up to the service.
The producer further remarked that the entire team is profoundly devastated by the tragedy, adding that they “carry the weight of what happened” daily.
He further issued an apology to his fans and said: “We are truly sorry for what happened and we will continue to do everything in our power to support the family.”
Mvzzle is popularly known for producing “Umlilo” by DJ Zinhle. He has also produced hit songs in the Lekompo music industry, including “Di Chopper” and “Sdudla or Slender” with multi-award-winning singer Shandesh.
