Maitland Crematorium is undergoing a R17.6 million infrastructure upgrade, including the installation of two new cremators, expansion of refrigeration facilities, and general building improvements. Witnessing services will be temporarily suspended due to noise and heavy machinery use, while chapel services will be limited to Saturdays for about two weeks. The crematorium has provided alternative coffin storage during the upgrade and conducted inspections to ensure high standards.
