CAF has locked in Monday, December 7 for the prestigious 2026 CAF Awards gala in Lagos, Nigeria, and reinging African champions Mamelodi Sundowns are leading the pack across the nomination lists.
The 2026 CAF Champions League winners dominate this year’s shortlist following their sensational march to their second ever African crown.
Unsurprisingly, Masandawana are front-runners for Club of the Year after putting together a ruthless run of results across the continent that reaffirmed their status as the benchmark for African club football.
The individual honours list is equally stacked with the Yellow Nation’s skipper Ronwen Williams in line for both Goalkeeper of the Year.
Joining him on the shortlist for the Interclub Player of the Year award is fellow Bafana Bafana teammate Teboho Mokoena, while coach Miguel Cardoso gets a well-earned nomination for Coach of the Year.
CAF is yet to announce the full list of nominees, but reigning Men’s African Player of the Year, Moroccan Achraf Hakimi set for the nomination to defend his crown after winning the Uefa Champions League and helping his nation go further in the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Nigeria will host the ceremony for the fourth time, having previously staged the event in 2008, 2013 and 2014.
Nigeria is also set to host the CAF Ordinary General Assembly earlier ahead of the awards on November 21.
Both Williams and Mokoena also helped Bafana qualify and finish in the knockout stages on the World Cup.
Mokoena grabbed headlines in the final with his wonder striker outside the 18-area leading to the crowning of the Brazilians after inspired displays through the season.
