Thapelo Maseko has ended a frustrating period on the fringes at Mamelodi Sundowns after securing a move away from the club in a bid to revive his career and gain regular game time, while the Brazilians have also confirmed the signing of TS Galaxy defender Khulumani Ndamane.

The winger has completed a six-month loan switch to Cypriot side AEL Limassol, where consistent minutes are expected to either help him force his way back into Sundowns’ plans or place him in the shop window for a permanent move elsewhere.

Maseko’s spell at Chloorkop began with significant promise under former head coach Rulani Mokwena, but his opportunities dwindled following the coach’s departure. As Sundowns continued to deliver strong results, the winger found himself increasingly on the sidelines, making a temporary exit from the club almost unavoidable.

Signed from SuperSport United, Maseko enjoyed a notable high point during Sundowns’ inaugural African Football League triumph, where he was named Player of the Tournament. That achievement fuelled hopes that he would kick on and establish himself as one of South Africa’s most exciting young prospects.

However, his progress stalled, with a major disappointment coming when he was overlooked for selection at last year’s Fifa Club World Cup—a setback that marked a low point in his career.

Life under Portuguese coach Miguel Cardoso has proven particularly challenging, with Maseko struggling to break into the matchday squad on a consistent basis over the past two seasons. His frustration became public when he took to social media, admitting that his love for the game was beginning to fade due to his lack of involvement.

He leaves Sundowns having made just seven appearances across all competitions this season.

Meanwhile, Sundowns remain firmly focused on their pursuit of a record-extending ninth consecutive league title and a 19th overall. After a difficult start to the campaign that saw them lose ground to Orlando Pirates, the reigning champions will be targeting a much stronger second half of the season.

The Brazilians have already bolstered their squad with the signing of former Buccaneers midfielder Monnapule Saleng and have now moved swiftly to add Ndamane to the ranks from the Rockets, with Pirates striker Tshegofatso Mabasa also linked to the club as his contract with the Soweto giants approaches its expiry.

Ndamane, a Bafana Bafana defender, joins the Brazilians after being linked with the club over the past few transfer windows and is expected to strengthen their backline as they push for further silverware, including the CAF Champions League.

Elsewhere, Siwelele FC are in advanced talks with Belgian First Division B side K Beerschot V.A. regarding the potential transfer of attacker Siviwe Magidigidi. Returning for a second attempt after an initial bid was rejected, the Belgian club has tabled an improved offer, and the deal now appears likely to pull through as negotiations near their conclusion.
