Police have uncovered what is believed to be a multimillion-rand Mandrax manufacturing laboratory during an operation at a plot in the Hartbeespoort Dam area in the North West on Tuesday.

The South African Police Service (SAPS) is currently conducting an operation at the property, where officers discovered a facility allegedly being used for the illicit manufacture of Mandrax.

North West Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General Adams is on the scene overseeing the operation.

SAPS said the quantity of drugs recovered during the operation, as well as their estimated street value, was still being determined.
