The South Gauteng High Court in Johannesburg has found gossip monger Musa Khawula in contempt of court following his refusal to apologise to Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) leader Julius Malema and his wife, Mantoa Matlala-Malema.
This comes after the court ordered Khawula to retract the defamatory statements he made about the couple.
He has been sentenced to 30 days’ direct imprisonment, suspended for 30 days on condition he complies with the order.
If he fails to comply with the order, he will be arrested.
The famous couple approached the court after Khawula alleged in February 2026 that the politician and his wife were headed for a split after 11 years of marriage.
The court declared the post made by Khawula on his social media unlawful and defamatory.
Khawula claimed that Malema’s wife was tired of his alleged infidelity and had decided to end their “stressful marriage.”
Instead of complying with the court order, Khawula posted a clip from the song “Sorry” by Beyoncé. In the video, the repeated line “I ain’t sorry” plays, signalling his refusal to apologise.
In the caption, Khawula addressed Malema directly, writing, “hi @Julius_S_Malema baby, please find the attached statement for your earliest convenience.”
He continued by stating that he stood by his claims and would not apologise.

This is not the first time Khawula has been defiant, after learning that the couple filed a court application, he went further and wrote:
“Hi Julius_S_Malema baby, thought you’d know that you aren’t getting no apology from me… Your close friends have repeatedly confirmed that your lil marriage is over, you are getting a divorce and I stand by that. Stop playing dress up.”
The court initially ordered him to permanently retract the statements within 24 hours of the order being issued.
In addition, he was ordered to publish an unconditional public apology on all his social media platforms where the claims were made.
He was also ordered to refrain from publishing any further similar allegations about the couple and to pay the costs of the application.
