It seems Kaizer Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi has run out of things to say as he insisted that his team’s improvement would be a long-term process, following their Betway Premiership defeat to Richards Bay over the weekend.

Chiefs lost 2-0 to Richards Bay at King Zwelithini Stadium in Umlazi on Sunday,  which was also their third defeat in their last five league outings.

Though Chiefs had almost double the number of shots at goal than their opponents with their 21 attempts, they were unable to convert any of their chances.

The Amakhosi also had the lion’s share of possession with 74% of the ball.

Kaizer Chiefs’ strategic rebuilding: Coach Nabi stresses time and precision as key to success

“We are in the process of rebuilding a team and a big club such as Kaizer Chiefs is not built in six or seven months; you need more time than that,” Nabi said after the match.

“We know exactly what we need to have a better team or club. And it is not today because we are losing and tomorrow when we are winning and say the opposite. I have to emphasise that we are in the building process and we know exactly what we need.”

Chiefs are in eighth spot on the log with 29 points, also 29 behind the table-topping Mamelodi Sundowns.

Last month, after Chiefs suffered their biggest defeat under Nabi with their 4-1 league loss to SuperSport United, Nabi had much the same to say.

“Our team is in the process of building itself, and I believe that the prestige of our name, the players feel it,” Nabi said.

“That’s why when you look at the league standings, there is a huge gap, but when you look on the field today, you couldn’t tell the difference. That’s why I believe that we are on the right track in making the team better and will have better outcomes in the future.”
