In a day filled with surprises, Cape Town’s Vasco da Gama (Safa Second Division) became the weekend’s first amateur side to advance to the last 16. Jacksa Spears, another squad from the ABC Motsepe League, also asserted their strength, defeating fourth-tier side Cardinals FC 4-2 after a thrilling encounter that went to extra time. Meanwhile, at Olympia Park Stadium in Rustenburg, Casric Stars from the NFD made their intentions clear by securing a comfortable 3-0 victory over Army Rocket, an ABC Motsepe League outfit.
In doing so, they advanced to the next round and further showcased the depth of competition within the tournament.
