Nedbank launches investigation after employee allegedly assaults customer

Nedbank confirmed that it is launching an investigation after an employee allegedly hit a cellphone out of a customer’s hand.

It is believed the incident occurred after he recorded her for not assisting him.

In a statement released on social media, Nedbank said it is aware of the incident, which occurred at the Mams Mall branch in Pretoria. The bank added that it shares “concern over the matter.”

“Our senior leadership team is treating the matter with the utmost urgency and we have reached out to our client to express our apologies over the incident as we work towards a resolution. An investigation is currently underway in line with our internal policies and procedures,” stated Nedbank.

The bank added that it is committed to treating clients and employees with dignity and respect. It further stated that it has a zero-tolerance approach to physical violence and other forms of harassment.
