Bird flu continues to spread in the Western Cape
The Western Cape Department of Agriculture has called on the public and farmers to prevent the further spread of the Avian flu.
According to the department, the virus has been detected in two commercial farms in the Drakenstein and Swartland municipal areas.
Estimated 120-thousand birds have since died from the virus.
The virus was found in South Africa last year.
ACDP calls on ANC to step back and allow other parties to rule SA
The ACDP has called on the ruling ANC to step back and allow other parties to govern the country.
The party has accused the government of allowing the country’s freedoms to be lost.
The party’s president, Reverend Kenneth Meshoe, highlighted the energy crisis and lack of access to clean water as some of the freedoms the people are being deprived of.
Meshoe also expressed concern about the World Health Organisation’s insistence to have the final say over the health policies of countries around the world.
Cape Town remains the most ‘pro poor’ city in SA – Mayor Hill Lewis
Cape Town will spend more on infrastructure in the next few years than Johannesburg and Durban combined.
Mayor Geordin Hill-Lewis says Cape Town is outpacing all other South African cities on infrastructure investment. He says it is also the most pro-poor city in South Africa and he has the numbers to prove it.
Spain records record heatwave this week
Spain recorded its hottest ever temperature for April hitting 38.8C this week.
For days a blistering heatwave has hit the country with temperatures 10-15C warmer than expected for April. It’s been driven by a mass of very hot air from Africa, coupled with a slow moving weather system.
