Weather warning for West Coast
The South African Weather Service has issued a yellow level 1 warning for damaging waves along the west coast of the Western Cape. The warning states that very rough seas with wave heights of 4 to 5.5 meters, , are expected from this afternoon, and easing by tomorrow morning due to the south Atlantic High Pressure system. Additionally, near gale to gale force southerly to south-easterly winds of 60 to 74 kph are predicted, potentially causing choppy sea conditions.
Fitch keeps SA at BB negative
Fitch has maintained South Africa’s credit rating at BB- with a stable outlook for the fifth consecutive time since December 2021. While acknowledging the stable outlook, Fitch expressed concerns about the country’s sluggish economy and increasing government debt. Despite challenges such as the ongoing energy crisis and logistics issues, Fitch viewed the government’s planned interventions as positive factors contributing to the current stable outlook.

The incidence of Umalusi certificate scams is increasing, leading to the arrest of at least 11 individuals involved in the sale of fake Umalusi certificates.
