Orlando Pirates have responded to reports surrounding a court application brought by the club to preserve funds linked to certain financial transactions.

The Betway Premiership champions confirmed that they have approached the High Court as part of a process to investigate the suspicious financial transactions as they juggle preparations for the MTN8 final next Saturday.

Pirates’ forensic investigation allegedly identified R20.2 million in payments which the club considers unauthorised diversions into accounts controlled by Darryl Joselowsky, the clubs former finance manager.

The broader transaction records allegedly showed R43 million moving from Pirates’ accounts into four flagged Standard Bank accounts between September 2016 and August 2026.

The club’s forensic analysis also allegedly identified 742 payments totalling R8.5 million where payment descriptions falsely identified beneficiaries.

Pirates stressed that the application is a precautionary measure and does not amount to a finding of wrongdoing against the individual concerned.

“The Club has asked the High Court to preserve funds linked to certain financial transactions while those transactions are investigated. This is a precautionary step to protect the Club’s funds during the process,” Pirates said in a statement.

The club also confirmed that the individual involved is cooperating with the process.

“The application is not a finding of wrongdoing and should not be interpreted as one. The individual concerned is cooperating, and the Club is committed to a fair process for everyone involved.”

Pirates also moved to reassure their supporters, partners and sponsors that the matter has not affected the club’s operations.

“Our supporters, partners and sponsors can be assured that the Club’s day-to-day operations and commitments continue as normal. Our focus remains on the team and the season ahead.”

With the matter now before the courts, Pirates have opted against commenting further on the details of the application.

“We will provide updates when we are able to do so,” the club said.
