Background

Kelly-Jane Turner

“Originally from a “klein dorpie” in the Eastern Cape, Kelly-Jane loves a good braai with her family.”
Kelly-Jane has always been passionate about content creation. Whether it be starring in the family home movies from five years old, or creating captivating news articles and videos for a wide audience. Now, as the afternoon news reader on Magic 828, Kelly-Jane brings you the latest in local and international news. Her love for radio started while studying at Stellenbosch University, where she was a presenter and news reporter for the campus radio station. It was during her Journalism Honours year at the same university where she took a strong interest in news reporting. The intense, multimedia-focused course pushed her to develop the skills she has today. She landed her first job in Cape Town as a video journalist and later became a Health and Environment journalist for IOL News, where she created a number of “Most Read” news and video articles. Kelly-Jane was part of an award-winning team that developed the Coronavirus Monitor website in response to the global pandemic, which won a global innovation award from the International News Media Association (INMA). Originally from a “klein dorpie” in the Eastern Cape, Kelly-Jane loves a good braai with her family. Nothing puts a bigger smile on her face than her adoring husband and two small doggies (who live their best soft life).
