The Proteas Men’s Test side will feature a headline sponsor for the first time in five years, with Jonsson Workwear announced as the brand on the front of the Test shirt.

The players will wear the new shirt for the first time in the opening Test against Australia at Hollywoodbets Kingsmead Stadium on Friday, 9 October, after Cricket SA confirmed the deal on Tuesday.

The Proteas men’s Test team last had a main title sponsor in April 2020 when Standard Bank opted not to renew its four-year sponsorship contract due to boardroom issues within Cricket South Africa.

The shirt is the centrepiece of a multi-year partnership that also makes Jonsson Workwear the Official Workwear and Apparel Supplier to CSA. The company joined the CSA family as an Official Sponsor of the Proteas in August, and its logo already appears on the sleeves of the ODI and T20I kits for both the Proteas Men and the Proteas Women.

The timing signidicant with the Proteas Men set play eight Tests at home this summer, against Australia, Bangladesh and England. These are their first home Tests since winning the ICC World Test Championship 2025 at Lord’s.

CSA Chief Executive Officer Pholetsi Moseki said: “The front of our Test shirt has gone without a partner for a long time, so it means a great deal to see that change in the season our World Test Champions play at home for the first time,” he said.

“Test cricket remains the format that defines us, and Jonsson Workwear putting their name on the front of that shirt is a strong vote of confidence in it. To see it come to life as the Proteas take on the world’s best in front of their home supporters is a proud moment for everyone at CSA.”

Nick Jonsson, CEO of Jonsson Workwear, said the partnership brought together “two South African brands that represent hard work and performance.”

“The Proteas carry the hopes of the nation on the world stage and in many ways reflect the grit we see in hardworking people across South Africa every day,” he said.

“This partnership reflects a shared belief that success is earned through dedication, teamwork and an unwavering commitment to excellence.”

South African Breweries did a once-off deal with the Proteas Men’s Test side for the World Test Championship final last year at Lord’s with the ‘Castle’ logo appearing on the sleeve.

CSA also welcomed ClearScore as the Official Credit Product Marketplace Partner to CSA and the Proteas, in a multi-year partnership covering both the Proteas Men and Proteas Women over the past weekend.

The partnership will see ClearScore branding on the sleeve of the Proteas Test shirt, putting the brand alongside South Africa’s top players in the longest format of the game, at home and abroad.
