Ramaphosa booked off from public engagements due to ill health

President Cyril Ramaphosa has been booked off from public engagements after falling ill, the Presidency confirmed on Wednesday.

In a statement, the Presidency said Ramaphosa, was advised to rest and recover following the BRICS Summit. 

“Due to ill health, President Cyril Ramaphosa is currently booked off from public engagements,” the Presidency said.

“President Ramaphosa, who returned from the BRICS Summit in India on Monday, has been advised by his medical team to rest and recover.”

It added that, where possible, Ramaphosa had asked the relevant ministers to represent him at scheduled public engagements.

The Presidency did not provide further details about the nature of Ramaphosa’s illness or indicate how long he is expected to be off from public duties.
