A leaked voice note from actor and TV presenter Nimrod Nkosi has set social media off, with fellow actress Rami Chuene stepping in to defend him as the conversation spiraled.

The audio, which began circulating online over the weekend, captured Nkosi openly speaking about feeling stuck in his career.

In the clip, the “Law, Love & Betrayal” star reflects on nearly two decades in the industry and questioned where things have gone wrong, even hinting at the idea of stepping away from entertainment for something more stable like a 9-5.

“My brother, how are you? I’ve been trying to get a hold of you. I thought I should send you a vn (voice note). I’m not in a good space right now I just don’t know what to do right now,” he said in the voice note.

“I’m struggling to process everything. Almost twenty years I’ve given my work, my talents to this industry and to this career.

“Now I’m losing it all. I thought I should confess that to you, at least so that I have someone who can support me as a man. I’ve been keeping quiet about it.”

The voice note was shared by entertainment commentator Phil Mphela, which immediately raised eyebrows about how such a private moment made its way into the public space.

While some focused on Nkosi’s frustrations, others questioned the purpose of the leak and if there are ulterior motives.

Chuene, however, wasn’t buying into the outrage. She brushed off the situation as something that may not be what it seems, suggesting there could be more behind the scenes.

“I know a promo prank when I see one. Also, @PhilMphela would never do something like this to bring another person down, especially in our industry,” she wrote.

“I can’t wait to see what is actually brewing. It might have gone sideways a bit, but it definitely got us talking. Phil’s job is done here.”

Her comments shifted the tone of the conversation slightly, pulling attention away from the speculation and back onto Nkosi’s career.

Amid the leaked voice note debate, X user @BoityBell criticised Nkosi for not expanding his revenue sources over his long career and Chuene came to his defence as well.

She pointed out that Nkosi is definitely busy, stressing that most of his work happens behind the scenes, and that he’s constantly working hard, even if the public doesn’t always see it.

“I hear you but when it comes to Nimrod, you’ve completely missed it. Nimrod works like crazy, more off screen actually. What we see of Nimrod in the public space is not even a fraction of what he does when cameras are off. Trust me, Nimrod is always working,” Chuene wrote.

The debate also opened up a broader conversation about the realities of working in the entertainment industry, where longevity doesn’t always guarantee stability.

Nkosi has since broken his silence, thanking those who reached out and showed support. He reassured followers that he and his family are okay, choosing to focus on the positive despite the noise around the situation.
