
R&B singer Freddie Jackson has died, his family has confirmed.
In a statement shared by the family, they announced that the singer had “gone home to rest”, paying tribute to his decades-long career and the music that connected him with fans around the world.
“Freddie was more than a legendary voice. He was a kind, generous soul who loved his fans, his family, his friends, and his music with everything he had,” the family said.
No cause of death was provided in the statement.
‘His gift will live on forever’
The family described Jackson as an artist whose music became part of the soundtrack to fans’ “love stories”, celebrations and treasured memories.
“For decades he gave us the songs that became the soundtrack to our love stories, our celebrations, and our most treasured memories. That gift will live on forever,” they said.
They also thanked those who had supported Jackson throughout his career.
“To everyone who ever sang along, danced, or felt something when Freddie took the stage: thank you. You were family to him, and he carried your love with him always.”
Family asks for prayers
The family asked fans to keep Jackson’s relatives, friends and loved ones in their prayers during the difficult time.
They said details regarding arrangements and ways to honour his legacy would be shared in the coming days.
“Rest in peace, Freddie. Your legacy and your voice will live on forever,” the family said.
