
South African rapper Reason paid tribute to his late friend and mentor HHP, also known as Hip Hop Pantsula, with a heartfelt post on Instagram to mark what would have been the legendary artist’s birthday.
Sharing a short throwback clip of him and HHP performing the song “Endurance” on the music show Live Amp a few years back, Reason wrote: “Happy heavenly birthday, big bro, I miss your energy, laughter, love, smile and real niggerness. I really wish you were here. But we endure. I love you.”
HHP, born Jabulani Tsambo, passed away in October 2018. His death sent shockwaves through the South African music community and left a void in the hearts of fans and fellow artists alike.
Known for blending Setswana rhythms with contemporary hip hop, HHP’s music and message championed local culture and inspired a generation of musicians.
Reason’s post serves as a reminder of the enduring influence HHP continues to have in South Africa’s music landscape.
The late HHP played a significant role in shaping Reason’s career. The two shared both personal and professional connections, often collaborating and supporting each other’s projects.
HHP’s wife, Lerato Sengadi-Tsambo, also paid tribute to her late husband on the occasion of his birthday.
In a heartfelt message, she wrote: “Happy heavenly birthday, Motho. I’m still doing the best I can for you in your absence. It’s tough sometimes, but God doesn’t play with His fave, so ke tla ba shap. Mara, you must also razzle for me there, that side by the Badimo section 😂.
