Rosie O’Donnell has left the United States to live in Ireland

The 62-year-old comedian has revealed that she and her youngest child Clay, 12, had made the move across the pond almost two months ago following Donald Trump‘s victory in the US election.

Speaking in a video posted to TikTok, she said: “Well, hey everybody it’s me, Rosie O’Donnell. Star of ‘The Flintstones’. It’s Tuesday all day, as my nanna would say.

“And I’m here in Ireland. It’s beautiful and warm. Not physically, it’s actually quite cold. We moved here on January 15 and it’s been pretty wonderful, I have to say.

“The people are so loving, so kind and so welcoming and I’m very grateful. In the process of getting my Irish citizenship as I have Irish grandparents, and that’s what’s going on, that’s what I’ve been doing.

“And although I was never someone who thought I’d move to another country, that’s what I thought would be best for myself and my 12-year-old child. Here we are, here we are.”

The “Harriet the Spy” star – who is also the adoptive mother of Parker, 29, Chelsea, 27, Blake , 25, and 22-year-old Vivienne – is “happy” with her new home even though she “misses” her other children but will only ever think about returning to the US when she thinks it is “safe” to do so.

She said: “You know, I’m happy. Clay is happy. I miss my other kids. I miss my friends. I miss many things about life there at home and I’m trying to find a home here in this beautiful country and when it is safe for all citizens to have equal rights there in America, that’s when we will consider coming back.

“It’s been heartbreaking to see what’s happening politically and hard for me personally as well. The personal is political, as we all know.”

COLUMN | Time has come for Mamelodi Sundowns to build their own stadium

Ruck & Maul Column, by Ashfak MohamedIt was a real eyesore watching Mamelodi Sundowns face Orlando Pirates a few weeks ago at Loftus Versfeld. No, I’m not a Pirates supporter, so it’s not because of the 4-1 victory to Sundowns. although Buccaneers coach Jose Riveiro mentioned the state of the surface afterwards. It was rather due to the poor state of the pitch at the home of Blue Bulls rugby, who often rent out their stadium to the Brazilians – no doubt […]
