As the Indian Premier League (IPL) group stage came to an end over the weekend, there were a number of South African stars who featured prominently.
As the four teams— Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), Gujarat Titans (GT), Rajasthan Royals (RR), and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH)— are the only sides remaining, most SA players in the competition will play no further part.
However, there’s still every chance that South Africans could top the rankings in both the bowling and batting charts at the end of the tournament.
For now, though, the South Africans are lurking menacingly on the charts.
Heinrich Klaasen’s Pursuit of the Orange Cap in IPL 2026: A Leading South African Contender
Heinrich Klaasen still has an excellent chance to win the Orange Cap for most runs scored in IPL 2026. Klaasen, playing for SRH, has scored 606 runs for third spot and is just 22 runs behind GT’s Sai Sudharsan, who leads the way.
Klaasen, though, has been mightily impressive batting in the middle order for SRH with six half centuries, including a highest score of 69. His runs have also come at an incredible strike rate of 159.
The next best SA batsman is Ryan Rickelton for Mumbai Indians (MI), who notched up 448 runs to settle on 16th spot on the run-scoring charts. Rickelton scored two 50s and a majestic century of 123 not out against SRH on April 29.
There are three other South Africans in the top 50, with Delhi Capitals’ (DC) Tristan Stubbs (275) in 36th, RR’s Donovan Ferreira (267) in 40th, and Lucknow Super Giants’ (LSG) Aiden Markram (231) at number 45.
Top South African Bowlers in IPL 2026: Rabada Leads with 24 Wickets
With the ball, GT’s Kagiso Rabada is tied for the most wickets taken with RCB’s Bhuvneshwar Kumar in IPL 2026, with 24 strikes. He is only behind the top spot on bowling average. Rabada’s average of 20.54 is only marginally behind Kumar’s 18.5. With GT still involved, Rabada has a great chance to win the Purple Cap for most wickets.
Rabada also has his best figures of 3/25, which he claimed on April 26 against Chennai Super Kings (CSK).
Lungi Ngidi is the next best SA bowler in the competition, at number 18 in the wicket-takers list with 13 strikes for DC.
MI allrounder Corbin Bosch is not far behind in 24th place with 12 wickets, while Nandre Burger for RR is 33rd with 11 victims.
Fast bowling allrounder for Punjab Super Kings (PBKS) has nine wickets, which leaves him in 38th place.
