Multi-award-winning pop singer, Taylor Swift, recently announced on her boyfriend’s podcast that she will be dropping her 12th studio album, “The Life of a Showgirl”, later this year.

Swift made her debut on Travis Kelce’s “New Heights” podcast last week, and since then, the episode has received more than 15 million views.

After Swift revealed the track list which includes a song titled “Elizabeth Taylor”, the legendary actress’s son, Christopher Wilding, shared his thoughts.

The 70-year-old approved of the name drop, telling an online site that he thinks Swift is a “rare, positive role model for young girls” and that he “admired her philanthropy and courage to stand up for what she believes”.

Wilding also noted that it would be “great” if Swift’s song brings some revitalised respect to his late mother’s name.

“Elizabeth Taylor” is not the first time the singer has expressed interest in the old Hollywood star, who died in 2011.

Swift previously compared herself to the “Cleopatra” star on her song, “…Ready For It?” saying her love interest in the song was Richard Burton, whom Taylor married twice in 1965 and again in 1975 after a brief divorce.

The line reads: “And he can be my jailer, Burton to this Taylor.”

Swift also gave a subtle nod to Taylor’s aesthetic in her music video for “Wildest Dreams”, in which she wears the actress’s iconic sleek black hairstyle and, like Taylor and Burton, who met while working on “Cleopatra”, falls in love with her co-star on the set of an old Hollywood film.

“Can’t Get You Out of My Head” hitmaker, Kylie Minogue, who knows a thing or two about the life of a showgirl, also reacted to Swift’s upcoming album.

Taking to Instagram, she posted a variety of pictures of her own showgirl days alongside the caption: “When all your friends start sending you your Showgirl mems!!! 😳🥺🙃 Awww. Showgirl life is ‘a thing’, multi-dimensional and so much more than feathers and dazzle. 💖, respect and admiration to all my fellow hard-working Showgirls 😘.”

Meanwhile, “Opalite”, the 3rd song on the album, along with “The Fate of Ophelia”, the opening track, has been racking up searches as well.

Swift’s new album is set to drop on October 3. Swift conceived and recorded the album during her European leg of her record-breaking “Eras Tour” in 2024.

In other news, Swift’s fans can’t help but wonder whether the “Bad Blood” singer will be the National Football League’s (NFL) Super Bowl halftime performer next year.

The theory came after Swift’s podcast interview, where she mentioned that she thinks about “sourdough 60% of the time”.

Fans went down a rabbit hole explaining that the NFL celebrates its 60th anniversary next year and that the mascot for the San Francisco 49ers is Sourdough Sam.

Only time will tell if Swift’s statement was a subtle clue or whether netizens are just overthinking it.
