Two brothers have been killed and their pregnant mother critically injured following a car crash on the N2 highway near Amatikulu, KwaZulu-Natal.

Samantha Meyrick, spokesperson for IPSS Medical Rescue, said that emergency teams were swiftly on the scene after receiving the call.

Meyrick said when paramedics arrived at the scene, it was established that a pregnant woman and her two sons were hit by a vehicle, found parked a few metres away.

Tragically, despite immediate medical intervention, Meyrick said both boys, aged 6 and 10, were discovered to have sustained fatal injuries and were declared dead at the site of the accident.

Meanwhile, the boys’ mother sustained critical injuries and was treated at the scene before being taken to a nearby medical facility for further care.
