Award-winning artist Makhadzi has been discharged from hospital following a car accident that happened while she was travelling from Limpopo to Johannesburg late last month.
The singer, whose real name is Ndivhudzannyi Ralivhona, was involved in a crash on New Year’s Eve, with her management company, Makhadzi Entertainment, confirming at the time that she had been admitted to hospital and was receiving medical care.
In an emotional update shared on social media, the artist confirmed she has been discharged and is now recovering at home under the care of her family.
“I feel a need to update you about my health because of the love and support you have been showing me, not only in South Africa but across Africa globally,” she said.
While grateful to be alive, the star revealed that her doctor has advised her to remain on home care for at least 10 weeks, during which time she will not be performing.
“From all the injuries, I will have to remain at home for care for 10 weeks without performing,” she said, adding that her recovery and well-being remain the priority.
Makhadzi thanked God for protecting her voice and described the period away from the stage as an opportunity to create new music.
“I won’t be performing, but I will be in the studio doing what He saved me for. Thank you for giving me a second chance to breathe,” she wrote.
Tribby WaDi BhoZza also escapes serious injury in a separate incident.
In a separate incident, rising Lekompo star Tribby Wadi Bhozza has also escaped serious injury following a car crash while travelling to a performance in Seshego near Polokwane.
The popular artist was involved in a crash late on Saturday night, with images of his damaged vehicle quickly circulating on social media and sparking concern among fans.
Subsequent updates confirmed that Tribby was not seriously injured, prompting an outpouring of relief from supporters.
“Thank God he is not injured,” many fans posted online, expressing gratitude that the artist had walked away from the crash.
Details surrounding the accident remain limited, but images of the vehicle showed significant front-end damage. Tribby reportedly sustained only minor injuries and received assistance from passersby at the scene.
Seshego is a key performance hub for Lekompo artists, with large crowds often turning out for live shows. Tribby, known for his energetic stage presence and growing catalogue of hits, was en route to deliver another high-energy performance when the accident occurred.
The incident adds to a worrying pattern of road accidents involving Lekompo artists in recent years, highlighting the risks associated with frequent late-night travel to gigs, particularly in rural areas.
Despite the scare, fans are hopeful Tribby will make a swift return to the stage as Lekompo continues to thrive as a dominant youth sound in Limpopo.
