Tyla has added three more Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) certifications to her growing list of achievements, with her global breakout hit “Water” reaching a new milestone in the United States.
Certified on July 29, “Water” is now officially 4x Platinum in the US after surpassing four million units sold. Her hit single “Push 2 Start” has also been certified Platinum, while “ART” earned Gold certification.
This is a jump for “Push 2 Start”, which officially achieved the Gold certification from RIAA back in 2025, now the song soars higher with a platinum certification.
The latest milestones come just days after the release of Tyla’s sophomore album “A*POP”, further cementing her growing presence in one of the world’s biggest music markets.
For many African artists, breaking into the US market is no easy task, however, Tyla has continued to build momentum while staying true to the sound that first introduced her to the world.
According to the RIAA, a Gold certification recognises 500,000 units sold, while Platinum is awarded after one million units. A song or album that reaches 10 million units receives Diamond certification.
The certifications also arrive during a busy period for the South African star. Following the release of “A*POP”, Tyla recently unveiled the music video for “That Girl”, one of the fan-favourite tracks from the album.
The visual, directed by Mila Rowyszn and Oliwia Drożdż, transports viewers into the colourful world of “A*POP”, blending live action with retro-inspired animation.
The video follows Tyla and an animated tiger companion through a fantasy setting filled with luxury, playful confidence and the bold aesthetic that has become synonymous with the album.
The new certifications add to what has already been a landmark year for the Grammy-winning singer.
In recent weeks, she has announced the “A*POP World Tour”, a 34-date world tour that will end with two South African shows in January 2027.
The Grammy winner will perform in Cape Town on January 4 before wrapping up the tour in Johannesburg on January 9.
The tour also marks Tyla’s biggest North American run to date, with multiple stops across the United States and Canada before she heads to Lagos and finally returns home.
The singer also performed at the WNBA All-Star Game, partnered with Kate Spade New York as its newest global ambassador and continued promoting the album with appearances and fan events across the United States.
