A creative debate has popped off online after British-Ivorian artist Flowerovlove accused Tyla’s team of copying her stage concept.
The 20-year-old singer took to X to call out what she believes is a copied idea, sharing a side-by-side image of herself performing inside a giant high heel alongside a clip of Tyla’s recent appearance on “The Tonight Show”.
In the viral performance, Tyla was seen inside a bold red heel while performing her hit song “Chanel”. Flowerovlove suggested that the visual mirrored her own on-stage concept, which she has used in past performances.
Her post summoned Tyla’s fans, who wasted no time jumping to her defence, pointing out that performing inside oversized heels is far from a new idea in pop music.
Many argued that the high heel visual has been used by several artists over the years and is not something that belongs to one performer alone.
Others also noted that Tyla’s heel moment is tied directly to the visual world of “Chanel”, which she first introduced in the song’s music video.
“The Tonight Show” performance marked the song’s televised debut, and as usual, Tyla leaned fully into the fashion-forward aesthetic that has become a signature part of her brand.
This is not the first time Tyla has found herself on the receiving end of “idea stealing” accusations.
In 2025, “City Girls” rapper Yung Miami took to social media to claim that Tyla took inspiration from her unreleased song concept after Tyla announced her single “Chanel”.
The rapper, whose real name is Caresha Brownlee, took to X with a series of posts suggesting that Tyla had heard her song and then went on to release her own version.
Miami alleged that she had previously played Tyla a song with the lyrics “take me to Chanel”, which she had been teasing to fans since 2024.
Shortly after Tyla previewed lyrics from “Chanel”, Miami hinted that the similarities were not a coincidence, writing posts like “Take me to Chanel > put me in Chanel”, referencing Tyla’s lyric, “Say you love me, put me in Chanel.”
So far, Tyla and her team have paid the allegations no attention.
In other news, while social media debates high heel concepts, the 24-year-old singer has kept it moving.
After enjoying a couture-filled moment in Paris, she has already packed her bags and touched down in Los Angeles ahead of the Grammy Awards happening this weekend.
The hitmaker is nominated in the Best African Music Performance category for her hit single “Push 2 Start”, adding another major milestone to an already impressive run.
