Three remaining suspects have been arrested in connection with the Westbury double murder and five counts of attempted murder.

Gauteng police spokesperson Brigadier Brenda Muridili said the trio, aged between 17 and 20 years old, were arrested on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, after they were handed in by their parents and lawyers.

The 17-year-old has been taken to a place of safety in accordance with the Child Justice Act, while the 19- and 20-year-olds have been detained.

“They are facing two counts of murder and five counts of attempted murder,” she said.

On Monday, a 36-year-old man believed to be the mastermind behind the mass shooting appeared in the Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court.

Muridili said the suspect was nabbed in the Westbury area on Friday and is believed to be the mastermind.

Two teenagers, Tigan du Plessis,18, and 17-year-old Diegan Ryters, died in a hail of bullets on October 21, 2025, in Croesus Street.

According to police, seven teenagers aged between 13 and 19 were approached on foot by four suspects.

Gunfire erupted, killing two at the scene. The other five were taken to hospital.

Police have also arrested and charged a 20-year-old in connection with the same shooting.

Muridili said the three will be joining the first two accused on Thursday, November 6, 2025, when they appear before the Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court.

They are all facing two counts of murder and five counts of attempted murder.
