Amapiano sensation MaWhoo has finally addressed her long-rumoured fallout with fellow vocalist Naledi Aphiwe, shedding light on the tension that’s been brewing between the two artists.
The Ngilimele hitmaker opened up during a recent interview with Selbeyonce on Gagasi FM.
According to the Ngilimele hitmaker, her relationship with Naledi Aphiwe began on a positive note, the two singers had even planned to collaborate, but things changed after an incident involving Mawhoo’s sister, Amahle.
“We were both excited about working together. She even came to Joburg for a studio session,” MaWhoo said.
In the interview, Mawhoo explained how their feud and beef started.
“She insulted my sister and accused me of things I didn’t do,” MaWhoo said, adding that the fallout was deeply personal and unexpected. The singer also claimed that Naledi had asked for help navigating the industry but later turned against her.
This was when Mawhoo’s sister Amahle had booked both Mawhoo and Naledi Aphiwe to perform, of which Naledi had said to come with only 3 people but later came with 12 without paying for tickets.
“I remember my sister was hosting an event, I was booked, and she was also booked, but drama began when she wanted to get almost 12 people in who didn’t buy tickets. A lot was going on.”
MaWhoo continued revealing that things took a darker turn the following day when her sister asked for a refund.
The emotional revelation shocked listeners, as MaWhoo described how deeply the situation affected her. She admitted that after Naledi clashed with her sister, the young star allegedly began speaking badly about her too prompting MaWhoo to cut ties.
The interview also sparked a wave of reactions online, with fans divided over MaWhoo’s version of events. Some accused her of fabricating details, while others applauded her for speaking out.
“I love her, I’m being honest. I don’t have a problem with her, but when someone swears at you unexpectedly, it can be confusing. I was shocked too. Most of the time, I ignore people. I feel like there’s a team behind her that told her, ‘Go and disrespect MaWhoo so you can trend too,’” added MaWhoo.
Naledi Aphiwe, known for her hit Romeo and Juliet, responded subtly via a TikTok video posted the same day, where she appeared to throw shade without naming MaWhoo directly.
In the clip, she reiterated that “sometimes silence is the best response,” prompting speculation that it was aimed at the unfolding drama.
