Fans are buzzing for the highly anticipated fantasy epic Children of Blood and Bone following the release of a new behind-the-scenes teaser, offering fans their first extended look at the star-studded adaptation of Tomi Adeyemi’s bestselling novel.

Based on Adeyemi’s 2018 New York Times bestseller, the film follows young warrior Zélie Adebola, portrayed by South African actress Thuso Mbedu, as she embarks on a dangerous mission to restore magic to the oppressed people of Orïsha, a fictional kingdom inspired by West African culture and Yoruba mythology.

The two-minute teaser showcases sweeping landscapes, intricate costumes and glimpses of the film’s action sequences while celebrating its rich African influences.

Set to Nigerian singer Tems’ hit song Me & U, the preview has drawn praise from fans eager to see the beloved fantasy novel brought to life on the big screen.

Directed by Gina Prince-Bythewood, the adaptation features an impressive ensemble cast, including Amandla Stenberg, Damson Idris, Viola Davis, Idris Elba and several other acclaimed performers.

South Africans have another reason to celebrate the production, as much of the film was shot in Cape Town, highlighting the city’s growing reputation as a world-class filming destination for major international productions.

The teaser has sparked widespread excitement across social media, with many viewers applauding the film’s commitment to showcasing African stories, mythology and talent on a global stage.

Fans have also praised Mbedu’s portrayal of Zélie, expressing confidence that the actress will bring the fierce and determined heroine to life.

The behind-the-scenes preview serves as a taste of what’s to come before the official trailer is released, building anticipation for what is expected to be one of the biggest fantasy films of 2027.

Children of Blood and Bone is scheduled to arrive in cinemas on 15 January 2027, with audiences around the world eagerly awaiting the next glimpse of the magical adventure.
