The Western Cape Government will host its first Infrastructure Ministerial Roundtable in Cape Town on July 30.
Hosted by Infrastructure Minister Tertius Simmers, the event will gather leaders from government, finance, the private sector, and academia to boost collaboration, unlock investment, and accelerate infrastructure delivery.
This initiative aims to drive regional economic growth, job creation, and investor confidence.
The Roundtable highlights the Western Cape Government’s commitment to transforming infrastructure planning, financing, and delivery through partnerships, transparency, and shared long-term growth.
Discussions will center on the Western Cape Infrastructure Framework 2050 (WCIF 2050), the province’s blueprint for infrastructure-led development that serves as a catalyst for economic, spatial, social, and environmental progress.
Supported by the Western Cape Infrastructure Strategy and Implementation Plan, the event will also focus on the Western Cape Single Integrated Infrastructure Project Pipeline to coordinate moving projects from concept to execution.
Simmers said: “Infrastructure is no longer simply about constructing roads, schools or public buildings. It is about creating confidence, attracting investment, expanding economic opportunity, and improving the quality of life of every resident.”
He emphasised that the Ministerial Roundtable brings together key stakeholders involved in financing, planning, regulating, and executing infrastructure, enabling collective and accelerated progress.
“We are fundamentally redefining public-private partnerships through transparency, certainty and collaboration,” Simmers said.
He emphasised that the Western Cape Government continues to be dedicated to fostering growth driven by infrastructure, achieving spatial transformation, creating employment opportunities, and developing a future-ready province that provides long-term value for future generations.
The Pipeline accelerates delivery and provides certainty to investors and partners by improving project preparation, governance, compliance, and embedding ISO 9001 principles.
Participants will explore strengthening public-private collaboration, improving project readiness, unlocking innovative financing, and expanding bankable infrastructure projects to support sustainable economic growth. Innovation will also be a central theme.
Discussions will focus on how innovations like digital tech, data-driven planning, modern procurement, and integrated project management enable smarter decision-making, boost efficiency, and reduce risks.
Ultimately, this inaugural Roundtable marks a key step in building partnerships to shape the province’s future and position the Western Cape as a leader in infrastructure planning and delivery.
