Senzo Meyiwa’s murder trial postponed to Tuesday

The Senzo Meyiwa murder trial has been rolled over to Tuesday due to the unavailability of a witness.

Five men are accused of a robbery at the home of Kelly Khumalo in 2014 which resulted in the murder of former Meyiwa, a former Bafana Bafana goalkeeper.

State prosecutor George Baloyi said the witness was unable to be in court as they could not secure a flight to Gauteng.

Meanwhile, Meyiwa’s family said they were disappointed over the postponement.

Eskom technicians working to repair tripped unit at the Koeberg

Power utility Eskom said that technicians were working to return a tripped unit at the Koeberg nuclear power station to service.

Chief operating officer Jan Oberholzer said that over the course of the past week, 42 units have tripped.

Eskom had to introduce stage 2 power cuts since last Tuesday.

“The Koeberg team are fully aware of the impact of the current unavailability the 920 megawatt has on the current situation and are working around the clock to ensure that it can return to service as soon as it’s considered safe to do so,”  said Oberholzer.
