Actress Winnie Ntshaba has returned to the set of “Generations – The Legacy”.
Ntshaba reprises her iconic role as Khethiwe Buthelezi, famously remembered as the timid, naive and conservative village girl who defied the odds to climb the ranks and become a successful, glamorous and confident entrepreneur and the face of La Chocolata.
Taking to Instagram ahead of her screen debut on September 1, 2026, Ntshaba reflected on the first time she worked on “Generations” as a 30-year-old actress, and now she returns as a 51-year-old.
“I was 30 years old in 2005 when I got a chance to be part of Generations; today I turned 51 after 21 years. I am back to say the line I said back in 2005….. Sawubona Bhut’Tau
“What a God ordained moment…. What a full circle moment. Not only am I celebrating 51yrs of life but tonight watch my return on @generations_the_legacy at 8:30pm.”
According to the broadcaster, Khethiwe returns to “Generations: The Legacy,” still ambitious and driven, but at a difficult point in her life. The money she received following Khaphela’s death is almost gone, while Sara has taken her child.
Desperate to rebuild her life, Khethiwe reaches out to an old friend for help. However, her plans quickly unravel.
Speaking about her return, in a press statement Ntshaba said, “Returning to ‘Generations’ is more than an honour; it feels like a full-circle moment. This is the show that introduced me to television and became the foundation of a career that has allowed me to step into many different worlds and portray an incredible range of characters.
“Yet, through all those journeys, Khethiwe has always remained a very special part of me. She is a character deeply connected to my beginnings, so when I received the call that there was another chapter of her story waiting to be told, as an actor and storyteller, I simply couldn’t say no.
“I’m incredibly grateful to the producers for entrusting me with Khethiwe once again and for creating the space for her story to evolve. Returning to this character has been both nostalgic and exciting and I sincerely hope viewers embrace her return and enjoy this next chapter as much as I have enjoyed stepping back into her world.”
“Generations – The Legacy” airs Monday to Friday at 8.30 pm, on SABC1, channel 161.
