On Sunday, reports emerged that another woman’s body was found in Springs, Ekurhuleni.
According to reports, the woman was found semi-naked and appeared to have been strangled near a railway line in Springs.
On Sunday, September 27, 2026, at approximately 12:00, SAPS Springs responded to a crime scene where a body was discovered in an open veld near Rhokana Road.
A security company vehicle patrolling the area noticed the body and alerted the police.
SAPS confirmed that all necessary role-players have been mobilised, including the Task Team investigating the Ekurhuleni murder cases, Crime Scene Management, Investigative Psychology Services (IPS), Detectives and Crime Intelligence.
The Provincial Commissioner of Police in Gauteng, Lieutenant General Tommy Mthombeni, is en route to the scene.
Further information is set to be provided as soon as preliminary investigations are conducted.
This brings to 11 the number of women’s bodies found in the metro since July.
On Saturday, September 26, a woman’s body was found at Mooifontein Cemetery in the Vusimusi Section, in Tembisa. Gauteng police have since arrested a suspect in connection with the murder.
The deceased has been identified as Ntombifuthu Nxumalo. Police said she was found naked and had sustained serious head injuries.
Stones were reportedly found around her body, raising the possibility that she may have been stoned. Police said no visible stab wounds were observed at the scene.
