JOMBA! Contemporary Dance Experience
An explosion of world-class contemporary dance is currently taking place in the city.
This year, JOMBA! sets out to engage, through curated dance encounters, and with artists and dance makers who battle with, and navigate the current unfolding socio- and geo-politics of border/lands.
“We have curated a series of artistic encounters that we feel question ideas of border crossings and have invited dance works that ask us to re-look at borders (real and imagined) as metaphoric and poetic spaces which we are either seeking to cross, or to renegotiate,” said Dr Lliane Loots JOMBA! curator and artist director.
She added: “We want to honour dance makers who bring beauty, humour, pathos and politics to our stages and hearts”.
In addition to its captivating performances, JOMBA! also features rich dialogues through its JOMBA! Talks Dance, where audiences can engage directly with choreographers and dancers post-performance at the Elizabeth Sneddon Theatre.
The festival also includes the annual Forging Futures dialogue and offers various free workshops and masterclasses.
