Melanie du Bois has been announced as deputy leader of the People’s Prosperity Movement (PPM) and who is expected to contest a ward seat in Cape Town in the 2026 municipal elections.
The PPM is a smaller political party focused on local government issues, with priorities centred on community upliftment, service delivery and addressing everyday municipal challenges.
It has been described in some reporting as operating within a broader reform-minded political space, with links or alignment suggested to movements such as Build One South Africa, led by Mmusi Maimane, although the PPM remains a separate organisation with its own structure and leadership.

She is best known for her work on productions such as “7de Laan” and “Arendsvlei”, where she became recognised for her on-screen presence in long-running local storytelling.
Her acting career remains a defining part of her public identity, even as she steps further into the political space.
